A major component of TCA's work is to establish a sustainable source of protein in each village. In order to reduce the amount of overhunting in the area, people need to actively manage their own sources of protein at the village. People have a limited supply of village protein and have limited resources to develop in this area without external assistance. In 2004 TCA was able to source funding from the Community Development Scheme to establish rabbit farming. This funding provided villages with materials for building cages, training and 12 rabbits for breeding.

TCA has established rabbit farming in 18 villages and will commence chicken farming during 2006. Provided TCA has funding, TCA aims to establish other protein projects such as ducks and fish.
